Induction Scheduled for Wednesday
Had my doctor's appointment today. Results were: no further dilation or effacement after an entire week! Rather discouraging news!! Doctor striped the membranes today but suggested induction since I don't seem to making any progress and I am approaching 2 weeks overdue - give or take 4 days. Apparently the hospital rooms are already booked for the next two days with scheduled births so my doctor had to pull some strings to bump one of the these patients. They had room tomorrow night but I was adamant about having a 'morning' appointment because I don't deal well with sleep deprivation and don't want to start labor in an already exhausted state. So as of now, I am scheduled to be induced Wednesday morning at 10:00. Not the way I had hoped things would go; I had hoped everything would just happen naturally, but at this point I feel a sense of relief knowing that there is a definite plan. My doctor's two concerns are: my ability to push out the baby (he thinks my pelvis is small) and a very long delivery (based on how slow things have been going he said to expect a 12-24 hour delivery, not a 6-12 hour one). A few matters of concern for prayer - Please pray that I'll be able to deliver the baby without needing a C-section, that the baby will be healthy and that I'll have the endurance for a long delivery. (I have a tendency to fall apart emotionally when sleep deprived and without food at regular intervals I get physical symptoms like headaches, the shakes, dizziness, etc. Plus, I turn into an emotional basket case and can't think straight.)

Aw, what a disappointment.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm just going to pray that you go into labor "on your own" tonight, then!
Hope you have a restful night. xoxo
hey friend. i'll keep praying. the Lord made you to do this, and He is in control of how it's panning out. I know you know that, but just wanted to encourage you. at the end, you're going to get to hold your precious boy!
ReplyDeletePraying =)
ReplyDeleteYou story is so similar to mine! I hadn't dilated at my last appointment and was scheduled for an induction the day after my due date. Funny enough, I went into labor on my due date and Chloe was born on time. I also had a long labor/delivery (16 hours) and the doctors were concerned about my narrow pelvis. Everything went fine though and I was able to avoid a C-section (although they did discuss possibly doing a vacuum extraction since I had been pushing for 4 hours). All is in God's hands though so just rest in Him. We all can't wait to meet him!
